Macomb County, MI – A 26-year-old man by the name of Matthew David Hughes reportedly broke into Eminem’s Michigan home on April 6, using a paving stone to smash out a kitchen window. TMZ reports the break-in occurred around 4 a.m. local time while Em’s security team slept.

As a result, Shady came face-to-face with Hughes who’d managed to get into the living room. Although an alarm had gone off, it was Em yelling for security that ultimately woke them up. They rushed in and subdued Hughes until police arrived.

Hughes was quickly taken into custody and booked on charges of two felony charges, including first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of a building. According to inmate records, Hughes remains in Macomb County Jail with a bond of $51,400.

Police believe Hughes wasn’t there to steal anything, rather he wanted a chance to talk to the Detroit-bred rap god. Considering Em has been quarantined at home like the rest of the world, there was obviously a good chance he’d be home.

Here’s How Quarantine Is Affecting Eminem

During a recent interview with Sway Calloway, Em revealed how he’s been passing the time.

“Fame has definitely over the years kinda already had me quarantined, but it’s the fact of knowing that you can’t really go out and we can’t move like how we normally move,” he said. “It’s not just the same thing for me every day that it always is. There’s something to be said about knowing that you can’t go out and do certain things.

“It’s not the same when you can’t do a lot of your regular routines and shit, and going to the studio is like my outlet. We can’t really get in and do much, so I’ve just been writing.”
